As the founder of Voice of the Youth Network, Pocholo has been recognized as one of the pioneers of Youth Media in the Philippines. Having begun his voice acting career on radio, it has become Pocholo’s mission to give the Filipino youth a voice on issues that affect them, and to use their voice to ignite positive social change. He believes that young people have brilliant opinions, ideas and stories that need to be heard, and VOTY has become the venue to do that for the past 20 years.
With his expertise in producing radio programs for the youth and by the youth, Pocholo has been invited to conduct training and speak at various Journalism and Broadcasting workshops in many parts of the country.
Today, Pocholo continues to inform, inspire, involve and empower the Filipino youth with the VOTY Radio Broadcasting Academy.
Radio Broadcasting Academy (RBA) is a training program designed to hone skills on radio broadcasting, and how to create a local youth-oriented radio program. The training is open to all students who aspire to become DJ’s, broadcasters, and even journalists.
RBA covers topics including:
- Conducting Media Interviews. Learn how to properly prepare and conduct interviews during the program.
- Broadcasting Ethics. A practical and easy-to-understand approach to learn the do’s and don’ts of radio broadcasting
- Radio Programming. How to create a concept and program flow for a youth-oriented radio program
- Youth Empowerment through Media. A motivational talk on informing, inspiring, involving and empowering the youth through broadcasting
RBA is also customizable to include more training topics for students who will be joining Journalism or Broadcasting competitions.
Graduates of the Radio Broadcasting Academy are given the opportunity to be part of VOTY’s radio programs – as hosts, newscasters or even correspondents representing their schools.
