The first 2018 Manila Bulletin Classifieds Job Fair was held on March 13 and 14 at the Skydome, SM North EDSA. Hundreds of applicants attended the event with the hopes of being hired on the spot. The Job Fair also featured a free seminar in the afternoon to educate and inspire the job seekers. The free seminar was a series of motivational talks provided by JCI Makati members, led by its President, Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.
Pocholo spoke on the first day of the job fair, with his topic “Passion-Driven Work.” In his quick but powerful presentation, he shared the story of how he established himself in the field of voice acting. He talked about the challenges, the monopoly and politics he had to overcome in order to achieve his success in the industry today. He also shared his entrepreneurial journey with his company, Creativoices Productions, and even amazed the audience with a “sample” of his character voices.
The meat of Pocholo’s talk is about how passion plays an important role in carrying out one’s responsibilities, regardless of the work or job title a person has. He shared his own learning about how passion drives a person to persist and succeed amidst challenges whether in business or in the workplace.
In the end, Pocholo left the audience with his words of wisdom, “Availability is the best ability.” He encouraged the job seekers to always keep an open mind and heart to the opportunities to grow and maximize their potential, be it in their personal or professional life.
Other speakers during the event include Ada Cuaresma who spoke about the secrets to loving your job, and JCI Board of Directors – Marvin Salazar (Adviser for IT), who spoke about data protection in the workplace, Reynard Francisco (Local Training Director), who talked about the secret of success, and Elmar Nabisa (Secretary), whose topic was being productive at work.
